We were treating my parents this Sunday and wanted to take them somewhere a bit special.  Graze has a fond memory for my parents and so I decided to take them there this Sunday. Being the first Sunday in a while it hasn’t rained and making the most of this “freak” weather we took a stroll down to Graze on Western Road.

Graze is a small but perfectly formed restaurant. Decadently decorated, fine dining without the airs and graces, it offers fantastic food and service and something a bit different to the rest of the pubs and restaurants in the area.

The roasts available this Sunday were, Rib eye beef, Pork loin and Partridge. They also had their usual menu on offer as well. Feeling unadventurous we all went for the rib-eye, we were lucky we got there when we did as they ran out pretty sharpish after we had arrived.

Whilst we were waiting they gave us some homemade bread and also an amuse bouche of duck croquette which was fantastic.

Our roasts arrived and at first glance my partner expressed his disappointment at the lack of food on his plate. They quickly advised us that there were more greens and potatoes coming, phew, panic over!

The rib-eye was amazing, thin slices of melt in your mouth beef. We had a few thin slices of boiled carrots, shredded cabbage and celeriac puree which was nice, not much of it but flavoured really well. The roast potatoes were small but nice and crispy, fluffy inside and a nice touch getting an extra bowl. The Yorkshire was nice, a little bit soggy and could have been bigger but the gravy that went with it was really good. Had to ask for more as there was hardly any on the plate, this seems to be a common theme amongst pubs and restaurants, maybe to stop the food going soggy?

My roasting partners ordered pudding and in between this course they brought us a little lemon meringue palate cleanser which was amazing. The deserts that my dining partners had were really good, highly recommend the “textures of chocolate”.

Another lovely experience at Graze, the food is consistently good and the service outstanding. Perhaps could have done with a bit more veg and the Yorky could have done with a pick me up

Roasty rating 8/10
